05 He Wrote Daytona / The Wall's Ahead

By Matt Dorey, friend and poetic sparing partner:

So the sky tonight is a blanket made from stars
And life is a wall where we come in waves and come in hard
And your words are wisdom mine are scars
So I call in from the underworld to see how you are

In a fall of coca cola cans and dirt
And junk and soap and alcohol and whatever it’s all worth
And I feel the messages that you’re putting through
And I know that you can’t help but tell the truth

So the sky is falling on our heads and I merely thought that it was raining
Here it comes again another block of wood the calm centre of your raging
I can pick it up it’s understood even if the song is constantly changing
And solemn openess into the desert drown in a mirage

While telestatic signals pick up perfect pieces
And you just keep on choosing words that identify a heartbeat
Thieves may have a bassline but you have a minor key
That’ll break open any chain and set anybody free....

So the sky is falling on our heads and I merely thought that it was raining
Here it comes again another block of wood the calm centre of your raging
I can pick it up it’s understood even if the song is constantly changing
And solemn openess into the desert drown in a mirage

While telestatic signals come seeping in from the void....,
