07 Start Again

On and off and back again
flickering memories of all the places
where you’ve never yet been
like the dreams of your yesterday
that you recall as being so bright

are they so unlike this new today
where you sit and wonder why and how it is
that you perceive your life to be so hard
there’s never been time to just stand back
hold still and take it in

and so you gaze a million miles away
engrossed in trying to survive today
wait for the evening light
wait for tomorrow before you reminisce
on the day that now becomes

on your quest to classify and box life up
capture memories in words and pictures
that will soon fade and return to dust
is anything really be quite the way you recall
be it good or be it bad each

where are you heading with your eyes behind
do you ever look beyond last night’s pain
is there madness in your memories
is there something that taints
the way and your point of view

should it be saved for a sunny day
when friends are gathered near
will you see me in another year
will we still be young
and do moments like this come again

keep on going on the buzz that is living
around and around it unendingly
till the sun goes down
till kingdom comes we sit in the sun
start again and play the game
